INGREDIENTS: 1 grapefruit, peeled, seeds removed, 1 large apple, cored and skin removed, 2 cups spinach, 1 large banana, sliced, 1 handful of ice cubes, 1/2 – 1 cup water or unsweetened juice 1 tsp flax seeds, to garnish, Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth, Add more liquid if too thick, or ice to thicken, Garnish with flax seeds, Feel amazing

I made the commitment to lose 200 pounds as my ONE THING that will make the biggest impact on my life, my career, and my family. I discovered this smoothie on Dr. Don Colbert’s website and I can tell you it’s great. Now make no mistake about it’s not a miracle shake! It’s not going to magically make the pounds start to fall off. What it does do is give you the right combination of fruits and vegetables to help jump start your metabolism. In other words, it will help you have increased energy to get more done in your workouts, and give you more energy throughout the day.

Always remember that there are no MAGIC BEANS so to speak regardless of what the health and fitness industry tell you.  The key to loosing and keeping weight off is CHANGE! That’s right that one BIG word that most of us resist. We didn’t develop weight problems overnight, and were not going to solve them overnight. What we can do is make a QUALITY DECISION to CHANGE the bad habits that have kept us prisoner to our weight.

 Folks I’ve made every kind of resolution and commitment that a man can possibly make and was never able to follow through on any of them. Richard Bach said “The worst lies are the lies we tell ourselves”.  One day I woke up to an epiphany, or an Aha if you will. Every time I started making excuses for my eating, or not working out I was in reality lying to myself. I was cheating myself of the life that I so desperately wanted for myself and my family. My wife God bless her told me one day that if I really wanted to lose weight I needed to do it for me, not for anyone else. Do it for yourself. I had become so concerned with what my family needed that I was totally ignoring what I needed. And if I didn’t make a QUALITY DECISION to change things I may not be around to do everything that I want to do for my family.

 It wasn’t until I got an accountability partner to help hold me accountable to my goal that I began to see some real success. Every day when I go to the gym I have to use the check in app on Facebook showing that I’m there. My accountability partner checks every day, and if it’s not there I get a text, phone call, or Facebook message. This has really helped me stay focused on my ONE THING because I don’t want to disappoint my family, my accountability partner, and most importantly myself.

Now having an accountability partner will only work if you first make the commitment to be held accountable. Oh we don’t like that do we? I mean I can hold myself accountable. I don’t need anyone bugging me about what I eat or did I work out today or not. One question, how’s that been working out for you? Because I tried to hold myself accountable for years, and the only thing that followed was one failure after another. Don’t get me wrong failure doesn’t make you a failure but quitting does. We’re not designed to live in failure did you know that? Success is in your DNA put there by Almighty God. If we fail at something, then we step back evaluate what went wrong and once again make that QUALITY DECISION to change and keep moving forward.

 I’ve had my good days, bad days, but I’ve also had my AMAZING DAYS, when I did everything right and I felt great all day. That accomplishment carried me all day long, and showed up in the form of energy. I noticed that when I talked to people I was energetic, and energy is contagious. Decide today not to excuse or accept failure. If you miss it, and YOU WILL don’t make an excuse. Call it what it is and then forget it and move on from there. I’ll leave you with one of my favorite scriptures from the Bible.

Philippians 3:13-14 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Yesterday is gone forever and no matter how much you would love to you can’t change it. You can however effect today and your tomorrows.
