Ready to Make Your Move On Dallas’ Spring Market? Here Are a Few Tips

Posted on March 23, 2015 in: Dallas, Real Estate News by DFW Real Estate

If the blooming flowers and warmer weather didn’t already tip you off, you might have noticed that springtime is here by all of the “For Sale” signs popping up in yards throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth region. The North Texas real estate market has been garnering a lot of attention ahead of spring market, with inventory pretty strapped many analysts are nervous as to how the market will fare this year with an influx of hungry home buyers.

Like all markets throughout the nation Dallas-Fort Worth has its own unique set of challenges, but it’s not totally unnavigable. Here are a few tips to prepare you for what’s to come in the spring market so that by summer, you’ll be sitting pretty in a new Dallas home of your own.

Pound the pavement.

According to the National Association of REALTORS®, 90 percent of home buyers begin their search online. While the Internet is a great place to peruse properties, inventory is going to be very strapped this year, so you’ll want to hit the ground running by not dawdling online.

“Buyers should be careful,” said Richard Seaton, vice president at Sotheby’s in Washington, DC, to The Week. “The Internet can tell only part of the story — and it’s usually the part the seller wants you to hear.”

Equip yourself to make decisions quickly by getting out there and seeing homes as soon as possible. This will give you an edge especially with sellers who want to move quickly.

Educate yourself on market trends.

The real estate market is a living, breathing entity and subject to continual change. Make sure you’re kept abreast of those changes and trends by working with a real estate agent who is well-versed in the market you’re considering. You can also stay on top of the latest real estate developments by keeping an eye on local real estate blogs such as this one. These insider posts can help keep you aware of what’s going on in almost every community in North Texas.

Take advantage of low mortgage rates.

One factor of recent housing market conditions that will stick with you for many years to come is the ridiculously low mortgage rate you can nab right now. This is no reason to rush into a sale, but if you’re on the fence about getting active on the market current rates might give you the push you need to get serious about looking for a home.

“Most predictions are that the fabulously low interest rates will stay that way through the spring, and that the variety of loan packages available to buyers will continue to multiply,” Seaton added.

If you are ready to take advantage of current rates, get one step ahead of the game by going through the pre-approval process. Once again, this might give you the edge with sellers who want to move quickly.
