Many people opt to list their house “For Sale by Owner” however, there are a few reasons this may be a bad idea. First, it is very dangerous to have random people coming into your home that you don't know. Also, you don’t know if they are a qualified buyer. An agent will be able to show the home to more potential buyers that are qualified – buyers that are pre-approved by a lender and able to afford the price point of the home. A licensed agent has tools available to them necessary to be able to list and market your home better than you may be able to by yourself.  If you are concerned about the 6% the agent will earn from listing and selling the house - then keep in mind that an experienced agent will be more than likely be able to get that 6% back because of how they are able to market, stage, and to show the home to more qualified buyers. Typically, when a buyer sees a home “For Sale by Owner” they are expecting a discount on the price and will make a low offer.
